Catch that pigeon!

Sometimes strange things happen at the Redoubt that probably don't happen at other museums, it certainly never happened at the previous museums I've worked at...This week we were visited by not one, but three pigeons!

The first pigeon arrived on Tuesday and set off our intruder alarm... When I arrived in the morning I cautiously went into the museum, not sure what I might discover... and a very large pigeon flew out at me! 

If you look carefully you may just see him in the circular space....

The pigeons come into the Redoubt through the small square vents next to the magazine rooms on the gun platform. Most of these are blocked-up but we noticed that on Tuesday 3 of the barriers had been removed.

Then on Wednesday we had 2 more feathered visitors... roosting on Von Armin's car... here he is in the casemate

The pigeons left behind a lovely mess for us to clean up... but it's safe to say, at least there's never a dull day working at the Redoubt fortress!
